A promotional film reviewing the importance of the shipping industry to Israeli economy and society. The film depicts the contribution of the shipping industry in tourism and as a passage to immigration to Israel by Diaspora Jewry, and of course its crucial contribution to Israeli economy as a route for importing and exporting goods. The film follows the training process of David, a young cadet who graduates from the Acre Marine Officers’ School, and undergoes training as a crew member on a ship belonging to the Israeli shipping company Zim, through which we are exposed to the scope of the Israeli shipping industry. Veteran theater and film actor Shmuel Rodensky plays the ship’s captain, and young David is portrayed by none other than the renowned Israeli cinematographer David Gurfinkel, laureate of the Israel Prize for cinema.
