A film produced by the American Zionist Organization about the Jewish life in Morocco before the break-up of the Jewish community there. The life of the Jews in the big cities, in the ” Melach” (the Jewish Quarter) is integrated into daily life, engaged in trade and tiny crafts. Kindergarten, Friday Kiddush, holiday prayers in the synagogue, “Henna” ceremony and prayers at shrines. In the south and in the Atlas Mountains life is much simpler, dealing mainly with agriculture, where the communities are small and ancient. The community organize to immigrate to Israel – separate from the ancestral tombs, load equipment on donkeys, uproot the mezuzahs and take care of the relics.
