A documentary produced by Histadrut on the tenth anniversary of Ashdod.
The word “problems” is used repeatedly in this short film, in which residents of Ashdod talk about their city. Workers of the car factory Leyland Motors tell about mass layoffs, a preschool teacher complains about a shortfall of budget, the local branch of the sport association ‘Hapoel’ had to fight for training facilities, and a resident describes a population of immigrants that struggles to become a community. But alongside the difficulties, the young city already boasts Israel’s largest power station and a developing port. As Nissim Yehezkel, the editor of local newspaper Ramzor HaDarom puts it: “you cannot build a city without problems.”
