A short documentary produced by the Israel Film Service.
In the opening of this film, Shmuel Yosef Agnon reads from a story he wrote the following quote: “My house is small yet there is a place in the house for a person who is not asking for greatness.” Ironically, in the year the film was shot, Agnon rose to greatness when he won the Nobel Prize in Literature. However, he did not leave his small house in Jerusalem’s Talpiot neighborhood.
In this short film, we visit Agnon in his home. Among other things, we see him writing in his workroom, walking through the city’s streets, and even reading aloud from his works, including “From Foe to Friend”, “Introduction to the Tales of Poland”, and “Concerning Those Who Assemble in Laughter and Frivolousness”.
