A sign in Hebrew on a street in the Mamilla neighborhood in Jerusalem: Entrance to the area is forbidden. Area under the military rule of North Jerusalem District. Trespassers will be punished. Guests arrive at the opening ceremony of the medicine faculty at the Hebrew University in the Russian Compound. Among the guests are Golda Meir, Yosef Sprintzak, Arab dignitaries, Prime Minister David Ben Gurion, Moshe Dayan and USA Ambassador James MacDonald.
