The Matateh (Broom) Theatres Oh Toscanini

  • Rate

A scene from the play Oh Toscanini by the Matateh Theatre, with sound. Starring Shmuel Rodensky, Bezalel London and others. A parody of the famous show The Dybbuk in Habima. Two cantors come to the rabbi to complain about a dybbuk (an evil spirit in Jewish folklore) that is possessing the public and make it want to only listen to Toscanini. Another woman is entering and complains that her beloved daughter is one of those possessed by the Toscanini dybbuk, and she is asking for help; the rabbi responds by saying that a miracle is needed to save the community. Another cantor is entering, accompanied by a black cantor which he claims to be the required miracle. All present ask the black cantor to prove he is indeed a cantor, and he begins signing a Hassidic song, and everyone joins his singing and dancing.
