An explanatory film produced by the United Jewish Appeal.
The film opens with an explanation by the chairman of the Executive of the Jewish Agency, Louis Pincus, about the difficulties and threats faced by Jews seeking to obtain a visa to immigrate to Israel, and the responsibility upon those who are able to assist the immigrants. We get a glimpse into the lives of the new immigrants from the Soviet Union and their absorption process. In their homelands, the immigrants were sometimes forced to hide their Jewish identity and faced many challenges, and now they can begin new lives in Israel, with pride, and with the help of the Jewish Agency’s absorption centers. However, even now, the immigrants face a new challenge – to adapt and learn the language.
