An explanatory documentary produced by the Jewish National Fund.
On July 10, 1927, a group of 350 Zionist Jews gathered in Winnipeg, Canada, for a conference where they raised a million dollars for the benefit of Zionist settlement in the Land of Israel. With these funds, they purchased a desolate valley plagued by swamps and mosquitoes between Tel Aviv and Haifa. 20 years later, this valley, which is now called Emek Hefer, is a prosperous valley with 20 innovative settlements, that promote Jewish education, agriculture, and industry in the Land of Israel.
The film showcases various settlements in the valley, such as Kibbutz Givat Haim known for its fruit jam production, Moshav Avihil founded by soldiers of the Jewish Legion who fought alongside the British in the First World War, Religious Moshav Kfar Haroeh with its esteemed yeshiva, and Netanya, a coastal city flourishing with a diamond industry.
