This film focuses on the social worker Sara, who accompanies the new female immigrants in the Ma’abarot, the absorption camps. Sara guides the immigrants on basic housekeeping skills and helps them to find a job. The film presents the experiences of the new immigrants in their first days in Israel and their exposure to “modern culture.” Throughout the film, Sara’s narration provides a glimpse of the controversial institutional attitude of immigrants from Eastern countries in the 1950s.
