Actor Shaike Ophir’s one-and-done foray into directing is a farce about a failed comedy duo (Jacques Cohen and Ophir) who regularly work the nightclub circuit with their act, all the while refusing to give up their dream of staging a bona fide, major production of Beckett’s Waiting for Godot. To make this come true, they bring Cohen (Yosef Shiloach) onboard – an investor who owns a dodgy nightclub with ties to the underworld. Cohen lends them £500,000, cash-in-hand [pre-Shekel Israeli currency – EE], and when the play bombs and Cohen threatens their lives, the pair start second-guessing their acting talents and instead, take on a variety of odd random jobs in order to pay back the loan.
