Director Micha Shagrir’s film, whose script was written by the late great Avraham Heffner, follows the story of four soldiers who cross the border into (then-enemy state) Jordan to apprehend a suspect and bring him back to Israel. The film is based on a true story where an Israeli special ops unit headed into Hebron for the exact same purpose. The four soldiers make it past enemy lines and successfully nab their wanted man, whose name is Subhi. Thus begins their long journey home, with all of them tired, battle-worn, and vulnerable to attacks. En route, they begin to question just how essential this mission really is as bit by bit, doubts creep in as to their M.O. – and the future as a whole.
Legendary composer Sasha Argov wrote the film score, including two of his more famous songs, with lyrics by Yaron London: ‘Scouts’ Ballad’ (‘baladat sayarim’), and ‘Amichai,’ performed by principal cast members Lior Yieny, Illi Gorlitzky, Eli Cohen, and Ze’ev Revach.
