Gur Bentwich’s film (Total Love) is based on the near-true story of a nearly-normal man who very nearly made it to the Planet Blue. The film’s protagonist, Mulli, is getting ready to go backpacking in the Far East, but when his rucksack is stolen, his plans take an unlikely turn. From that moment on, he goes off on an utterly surreal adventure which includes unexpected visits to numerous sites around Israel, and a series of encounters with a host of bizarre characters. Planet Blue, which over the years has become a cult-classic, is a road movie that embodies a whole generation’s search for identity.
