A big screen adaptation of author, Yitzhak Ben Ner’s novel of the same title. Atalia, a wartime widow, lives in a kibbutz with her daughter in days just before the 1967 Yom Kippur War. Desperate for some love and human affection, she starts a romantic relationship with Matti – a 19-year-old idealist who was exempt from military service on account of a heart condition – much to the dismay of her conservative fellow kibbutz members. The film kicked off the inaugural Haifa International Film Festival and earned Michal Bat-Adam an Israeli Film award (later, the Ophir Awards) for Best Lead Actress.
