As of today, Naomi remains esteemed TV director Eitan Zur’s (Red Band, In Therapy, The Office) one-and-done foray into feature filmmaking. The script was penned by the late great Edna Mazia, based on her novel of the same title (original Hebrew title: Outbreak X).
Ilan, an ageing astrophysics professor learns that his beautiful wife, Naomi (who is also many years his junior), has been having an affair. His elderly mother advises him to leave it be and just let the affair to run its course; however Ilan is consumed by jealousy. He meets with his wife’s lover and in the heat of the moment, kills him. His mother then gets involved and helps him destroy the evidence.
Anton, a police detective and an old friend of Ilan’s is assigned to investigate the lover’s disappearance, and Ilan starts to feel the walls closing in on him – right up to the surprising twist at the very end.
The film was selected for the Venice Film Festival.
