After 17 months in prison, Aharon Cohen is released from Damun Prison and ends his prison term, after being paroled by President Zalman Shazar. Cohen, a member of Kibbutz Shaar Haamakim and a senior member of Mapam, was jailed on charges of spying (contact with foreign agents) and claims to be innocent. Upon exiting the prisons gate, he is greeted by friends from Kibbutz Shaar Haamakim, his wife Rivka, members of Mapam and Hashomer Hatzair, as well as journalists. Upon leaving prison, Cohen makes a statement to journalists and declares his innocence. Cohen gets on a vehicle with his friends and leaves the Damun prison.
