Nili Portugali is a practicing architect, lecturer, researcher, and film director. She was a Senior Lecturer at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem and at the Faculty of Architecture, Technion, Haifa, as well as a guest lecturer at academic institutions abroad. Portugali has published two books on her Holistic approach to architecture . Among the many buildings she designed are: The Maimonides Central Synagogue, Israel and the Felicja Blumenthal Music Center & Library, Bialik Square, Tel Aviv among many others. Her work has been exhibited at the Biennale of Architecture in Venice, San Paolo, and Barcelona. Her film, And the Alley she Whitewashed in Light Blue, of which she wrote its script, directed, edited and carried out the production design, is the third in a trilogy following the buildings she designed as an architect and the published books she wrote.
