Michael Lev-Tov is a documentary filmmaker, teacher, author, poet, and multidisciplinary artist. Jerusalem-born Shem-Tov studied at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, followed by a degree course at the London Film School (LFS). In the early seventies, he started directing documentaries commissioned by Israeli public broadcaster Channel 1, and the Israel Film Service. Many of his films have been known to focus on the history of Israel and on art.
In 1981 he and Dita Guery teamed up and co-wrote the script for TV drama Indian in the Sun, directed by Ram Loevy. That same year, he also directed episodes 15-17 in the series Pillar of Fire: ‘The Hundred Thousand,’ ‘The Struggle,’ and ‘Trial of the Nations.’ Then in 1998 he directed the episode ‘Let us Live in this Country’ in the series Revival (‘T’Kuma’).

Lev-Tov has taught at the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School and the Maaleh Film School.
