Levana Hakim is a filmmaker, casting director, and agent. A graduate of Tel Aviv University’s Department of Film and Television Studies, Hakim’s graduation short, Havatzelet (‘lily’) (1979), earned tremendous praise and was shown at multiple festivals around the world. As a casting director, Hakim is credited for having discovered some of Israel’s greatest film and television stars. Highlights of her film casting credits include The Day We Met (Sam Firstenberg, 1990), Over the Ocean (Jacob Goldwasser, 1991), Tel Aviv Stories (Ayelet Menahemi & Nirit Yaron, 1992), Double Edge (Amos Kollek, 1992), A Bit of Luck (Ze’ev Revach, 1992), Afula Express (aka Pick a Card) (Julie Shels, 1997), Sweet Mud (Dror Shaul, 2006), A Matter of Size (Sharon Maymon & Erez Tadmor, 2009), and Laces (Jacob Goldwasser, 2018).
