Dvorit Shargal is a documentary filmmaker, blogger, and former journalist. Shargal was previously the editor of local Tel Aviv magazines, Tel Aviv and Zman Tel Aviv (‘Tel Aviv times’), the Israeli offshoot of National Geographic, and the now defunct Israeli TV and entertainment weekly magazine, Rating where she was also the in-house film critic. Between the years 2006-2015, Shargal wrote and ran the media review blog, Velvet Underground. Then in 2010, she ventured into the world of documentary filmmaking and is now most commonly associated with her Children of the World trilogy: Where is Elle Kari and What Happened to Noriko-san (2014), Africa! Sia Lives on Kilimanjaro (2016), and Where is Lilibet the Circus Child and What Happened in Honolulu? (2017). On top of the trilogy, Shargal also made the documentary short, A Shot in the Back (2016).
