Guy Nattiv is a screenwriter and director, and graduate of Tel Aviv’s Camera Obscura School of Arts – Department of Film and Television. His 2018 short, Skin, won him an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film. As a student at Camera Obscura, his graduation project, Mabul (‘downpour’) (2002), won him the Crystal Bear Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival for Best Short Film.

After graduation, Nattiv teamed up with one of his fellow Camera Obscura alums, director Erez Tadmor, and the pair co-directed the short Strangers. The film was shown at dozens of festivals all over the world and won the award for Best Short, both at the Jerusalem and Sundance film festivals.

After Offside (2006), their second short film together won the Manhattan Festival top prize – full funding for a feature-length film – Nattiv and Tadmor decided to take Offside and adapt it into just that. The following year (2007), the feature-length version of Offside came out. It too was shown at countless festivals around the world.

In 2011, Nattiv went down a similar route on his own when he directed a feature-length adaptation of his 2002 award-winning short, Mabul, now under the title The Flood. The film was shown at multiple festivals around the world, earning a Special Mention at the Berlin International Film Festival (as part of the Generation section), and the award for Best Film at the Haifa International Film Festival.

In 2013 Nattiv directed Magic Men, his third feature film and fourth collaboration with Tadmor. Leading man Makram Khoury won an Ophir Award for Best Male Lead in a Motion Picture for his performance in the film. Nattiv and Tadmor’s fruitful collaboration carried over into 2014 when the duo co-directed the short, Dear God.

In 2018, after his short film Skin won the Oscar and the International Film Critics’ Association Award at the Toronto Film Festival, Nattiv directed a feature-length version of the film under the same title. In 2023, he directed Golda, starring Dame Helen Mirren.

In 2015 Nattiv relocated to Los Angeles fulltime, where he lives with his wife, actor Jaime Ray Newman, and their two daughters.
