A short film produced by the Israel Film Service for the Information Services of Israel’s Prime Minister’s Office.
Beginning in October 1963, intensive excavations began at the Masada site in the Judean Desert. A large delegation of archaeologists and volunteers from 29 countries, led by Professor Yigael Yadin, worked to uncover the secrets of the site. The film documents the work of the archaeologists and presents their findings, from small pottery vessels to mosaic-adorned chambers. Stunning footage of the site serves as the backdrop as the narrator recounts the historical story of Masada, from the time of Herod to the days of the Jewish revolt against the Romans.
