In the ancient synagogues in Israel were found magnificent mosaic floors, dedicatory inscriptions in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, decorations of Jewish symbols, such as the seven-reed lamp, the shofar, the four species, the zodiac, and more. Most of these synagogues were found in the Galilee and Golan region, which was the center of the Jewish settlement during the Mishna and Talmudic periods, a few were also located in the southern Hebron mountain region and in the Jericho region. The residence of the presidents of Israel is also decorated with a mosaic floor, as is the Masada, in Herod’s palaces. Spectacular mosaic floors from the synagogues in Carmel, Yafia, Hamat Tiberias, Beit Shean, Beit Leonitis with motifs from Greek mythology, Beit Alpha, Nirim, Ein Gedi, Susia, and more. The reconstruction of the archaeological finds and the renewal of this special art even in the modern period.
