This brief explanatory film, produced by the Israeli Film Service, explores the ‘Two Seas Canal’ project conceived in the 1980s. This initiative aimed to channel water from the Mediterranean Sea to the Dead Sea to generate hydroelectric power. The film portrays the construction of the canal as the realization of Benjamin Ze’ev Herzl’s vision, as depicted in his utopian book ‘Altneuland.’ Through a series of interviews, we gain insights into the planned construction, the chosen route, and the challenges anticipated by the project’s planners. It is important to note that the depicted project in the film was never brought to fruition.
