A 35 episode documentary TV series created by the Israeli Film Service. The script follows a week by week account of events in the 1948 war starting with the 1947 UN resolution on the Partition Plan for Palestine and concluding with Israel’s first Defense Forces Parade, on July 27, 1948. The nineteenth week of the war. On March 10, 1948, the Defense Headquarters issues Plan D, which includes the transition from a defensive to an offensive strategy and it marks the turning point in the transition to acting as an organized army. Plan D’s objectives are to take control of the territories allocated to the Jewish settlement by the UN partition plan, conquer the enclaved Jewish settlements, and secure the expected invasion routes of Arab armies. Operation Nachshon achieved its goals and was immediately followed by Operation Harel, in which dozens of supply trucks were transferred to besieged Jerusalem. These two successful operations are led by the best Haganah commanders at the time, Yosef Tabenkin, Yitzhak Rabin, Yigal Yadin, Shimon Avidan, and Chaim Laskov, but the road to Jerusalem is blockaded again shortly afterward due to a lack of personnel to secure it.
