The script follows a week by week account of events in the 1948 war starting with the 1947 UN resolution on the Partition Plan for Palestine and concluding with Israel’s first Defense Forces Parade, on July 27, 1948. leaders The eighteenth week of the war The UN Security Council unanimously accepts the United States proposal to bring about a ceasefire between the warring parties The supply convoys are destroyed one after another in hopeless battles and the ammunition depot runs out The ongoing siege of Jerusalem and fear that the city will fall lead the Yishuv leadership and the Defense Command to embark on a largescale operational plan aimed at taking over the territories allocated to the Jewish state in the partition plan, the zionists enclaves outside these territories, and the expected invasion routes of Arab armies Operation Nachshons objective is to break the blockade of the road to Jerusalem A large shipment of weapons and ammunition purchased from Czechoslovakia enables the operation organizers to achieve their goal Operation Nachshon will mark the turning point in the struggle and henceforth will change the balance of forces between the warring parties.
