A short documentary produced by the Israel Film Service.
After more than a hundred years of life, during which he was imprisoned in gulags for resisting the Soviet authorities, Rabbi Moshe Epstein finally managed to make his way from Leningrad to Jerusalem. In contrast, ten-year-old Danny Rubinstein arrived in Israel from the USSR as a child. Moshe made aliyah after a relentless struggle, whereas Danny was brought to Israel by his parents. This film compares the experiences of the elderly rabbi and the non-religious boy, both of whom – despite their differences – feel both at home and alienated in Israel.
