A 35 episode documentary TV series created by the Israeli Film Service. The script follows a week by week account of events in the 1948 war starting with the 1947 UN resolution on the Partition Plan for Palestine and concluding with Israel’s first Defense Forces Parade, on July 27, 1948. The twelfth week of the war The Yishuv leadership orders a general mobilization and imposes a tax to finance war expenses This episode consists of interviews with Yigal Yadin, who describes the General Staffs decision to change its combat strategy At the end of January 1948, the Defense Headquarters decides to conduct a raid on the village of Sasa today Sasa as part of Operation LamedHey thirtyfive in Hebrew numerals, named after the 35 fighters who had been killed two weeks earlier on a supply convoy to Gush Etzion The Palmach fighters mission is to destroy 20 of the village houses using 10 kg of explosives each in the dead of night, injuring as many Arabs as possible The operation also includes the demolition of six bridges connecting Palestine with Lebanon and Jordan to prevent foreign Arab forces from invading the country Moshe Kelman, one of the commanders, meets Yigal Alon in the operations room, where the two decide to take aerial photographs of the village to study its topography and houses.
