On Independence Day eve, music concerts are held in the center of Jerusalem, and thousands of people dance around the stages. In the Valley of the Cross, shows for youth are displayed, and campfires are lit. The following day, Mayor Teddy Kollek greets public figures and citizens at the foot of the Tower of David in the Old City. Jerusalem District Supervisor Raphael Levi also takes part in the reception. At the Artillery Corps Parking Lot event in Yefe Nof neighborhood in the capital, Corps soldiers present guns, launchers, and Six Day War booty. Children climb the heavy machinery.
