David Greenberg’s film is dedicated to Avraham Soskin, the photographer who documented the establishment of Tel Aviv for decades, beginning with the land lottery event in Ahuzat Bayit, and the construction of the city in the following years, and is considered the “Tel Aviv photographer.” The film recreates Soskin’s well-known picture of the Ahuzat Bayit lottery event through reeanctment with actors, and displays a selection of his well-known pictures in which the spectacular buildings of young Tel Aviv are shown, along with photographs documenting the establishment of the Yishuv in Eretz Israel. The film offers its viewers a time travel to a city that has changed its appearance completely, and Soskin’s photographs remind us of a past, which the film aims to recreate through the use of actors, interviews, and also a visit to Soskin’s mythological studio on Herzl Street in Tel Aviv, where the sign is still engraved on the wall – A. Soskin Photo Studio.
