A short film based on the children’s song by Kadia Molodowsky, produced by Sdot Films and the Kibbutz Movement Alliance.
It tells the story of a girl from Warsaw named Ayelet, whose elderly parents demand that she perform more and more tasks and do not let her play, until one day, in the middle of a sewing task, the buttons come to life. Ayelet harnesses the buttons to a train and travels to an unknown land. The song was translated from Yiddish by Nathan Alterman and published in Molodowsky’s collection of translated poems, “Open the Gate”.
