Leonard Bernstein conducts the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in its last rehearsals in preparation for the opening concert of Tel Avivs Culture Palace (Heichal HaTarbut). Pianist Arthur Rubinstein, cellist Paul Tortelier, and violinist Issac Stern join the Orchestra for its first performance in its new home. Audiences include President of Israel Yitzhak Ben Zvi and his wife Rachel, Prime Minister David Ben Gurion and his wife Paula, and Knesset Member Moshe Sharett and his wife Zipporah. At the end of the concert, the players participate in a garden party with American philanthropist Frederic R. Mann, who donated 250 dollars for the establishment of the hall.
