One of the Ten Commandments given to the people of Israel at Mount Sinai is Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Remembering the Sabbath is expressed in rest and respect for this holy day by refraining from work and craft. Director Dov Lederberg summarizes the thirtynine crafts that are forbidden on Shabbat, according to the order specified in the Mishnah, in order not to offend the sanctity of the Temple long before the people of Israel left Egypt. To facilitate the explanation, the announcer gives examples of how these crafts are reflected in works from today’s industry and agriculture.
