A large fire burns down the Zim building in Tel Aviv. A conflagration soon turned the entire compound into a burning torch. Firefighters use long ladders to rescue people trapped in high stories. Others climb boldly to the roof and are rescued by Israeli Air Force helicopters under Aluf Ezer Weizmans commandment. Across the street, works of art are carried out of the museum lest the flames will expend. Only after long hours can the firefighters extinguish the flame that has left Zim Building but a smoldering foundation.
