Following the expansion of construction in the Occupied Territories around Jerusalem, in the East Talpiot enclave and French Hill neighborhood, Israel receives criticism and condemnation from the UN and the US State Department. The construction also sparks architectural controversy. Simultaneously, Israel returns to peace talks with Egypt, mediated by UN envoy Gunnar Jarring, Prime Minister Golda Meir and Foreign Minister Abba Eban deliver their message on the subject. Palestinian women carry furniture in the construction site.
