Following Foreign Minister Abba Ebans return from abroad, the government convenes for its weekly meeting against the background of Gahal partys threats to withdraw from the coalition. The political crisis erupted due to contacts between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Gunnar Jarring, the UN mediator in the Middle East, regarding a possible Israeli withdrawal from territories occupied in the Six Day War. At the end of the meeting, Prime Minister Levi Eshkol clarified that Israel is not committed to Jarrings proposals, and the crisis was solved.
