The 5-year-old boy Eliyahu Dabach from Ofakim turned out to be a chess prodigy. His 16-year-old brother taught him to play, and within a month Eliyahu had already defeated his brother. The boy Eliyahu plays a game of chess with the townspeople, as well as the head of the local council, and wins all games, according to the press of the period. The Dabach family, consisting of the parents and their 6 children, belongs to the religious movement of Karaite Jews, and immigrated from Egypt and settled in Ofakim.
