Abie Nathans conducts a private mission to Egypt on his airplane Peace 1. Outside his California restaurant in Tel Aviv, supporters and opponents gather. Several hours following his departure, incorrect news reports announce that his plane had crashed. Two hours later news arrive that he had safely landed in Port Said. The Egyptian authorities do not allow him to meet Nasser and order him to return to Israel. The following day, Nathan lands at Herzliya Airport and is greeted by crowds of supporters. Police arrest him for visiting an enemy state but he was released on self-bail of 100 Israel Pounds. From the airport, Nathan drives to the Hilton Hotel surrounded by hundreds of people. At the hotel, he gives an impromptu press conference in which he describes his journey, telling that he received fair treatment in Egypt and that he was taken on a night tour of the city. Nathan concludes that although he did not meet Nasser, his flight was not in vain.
