The first West German ambassador to Israel, Rolf Pauls, arrives at the Presidents Residence in Jerusalem to submit his letter of credence. Along the route leading to the Presidents Residence, protests are held with the participation of partisan representatives, former Nazi prisoners, and World War II survivors, who are protesting against establishing diplomatic relations between Israel and West Germany. The West German ambassador reviews the guard of honor and enters the Presidents Residence, while police forces prevent protesters from nearing the site.
