A parachuting demonstration is held off the coast of Tel Aviv, as one of the Paratrooper Day events. A crowd of thousands gathers to witness 74 paratroopers in action. IDF commanders, including cheif of staff Yitzhak Rabin, watch the demonstration from the balcony of the Samuel Hotel. Navy boats and Tel Aviv harbor vessels pick up the paratroopers who land in the sea, some paratroopers are pushed into the promenade area as a result of strong western winds and land on the road or within the crowd. In the evening, a paratroopers parade is held at Ramat Gan. Mayor Avraham Krinitzi watches alongside commander of the Central Command Yosef Geva and other guests as while jeeps and command cars pass, followed by a parade by foot of 800 paratroopers. The paratroopers annual conference is held at Ramat Gan National Park, where a reception is given in the presence of Chief of Staff Yitzhak Rabin, his wife Leah Rabin, Deputy Defense Minister Shimon Peres, and Commander of the Paratroopers Brigade Lieutenant colonel Rafael (Raphael) Ethan.
