Victims of Swissair Flight 330 Bombing Laid to Rest

The remains of the bodies of the 15 Israelis killed in a terror attack on the Swissair Flight 330 from Zurich to Tel Aviv are transported to Israel. At Lod airport, the coffins are taken off a plane by soldiers of the military rabbinate. Transport Minister Ezer Weizman and Chief Military Rabbi Major General Shlomo Goren oversee the process. An official ceremony is held at the airport in the presence of the grieving families. The following day, the victims funeral takes place at Har HaMenuchot in Jerusalem in presence of President of Israel Zalman Shazar and Prime Minister Golda Meir. The coffins are buried in a mass grave, and soldiers cover them with earth.
