A United Israel Appeal production, featuring scenes from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem in the 1920s. highlights of the film include footage from Jerusalem’s Old City; a religious feast at the Tomb of Simeon the Just; Jerusalem’s Bukharan Synagogue; a reading of the Book of Esther on Purim; a family celebration at home (a woman in the family dancing with a guest); a concert at the amphitheatre featuring an orchestra playing Bach to a crowd of thousands; passersby crossing Jaffa Gate en route to the Western Wall, Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook giving a speech, Menachem Ussishkin, and images of the Western Wall. The Tel Aviv footage features the caption, “The year 1909”, followed by scenes from the beach and the caption, “The year 1919.”
