A short documentary produced by Geva Films and sponsored by the Ministry of Welfare, the Jewish Institute for the Blind, the Government Office Mechanisation Center, and the IBM World Trade Corporation.
How can blind people find a job in the computer age? A project of the Ministry of Welfare has developed new methods to teach the blind how to operate IBM punched card machines. In the project, which was supported by the American government, blind students memorized the structure of the machines using tactile relief mockups of their parts. At the end of the course, the students found jobs in the Israeli job market. This video, made for an international congress on vocational training for disabled persons, captures their learning process in detail.
