A short film produced by the Histadrut Center for Culture and Education. It is May 1st, 1980, and multitudes gather on the banks of the Yarkon for a holiday procession organized by the Histadrut. The procession is charged with overt political anger. The Likud has been in power since 1977, and the bearers of red banners are bitter concerning the government’s fiscal policies and their outcome. The procession advances down Ibn Gabirol Streeet. It is impressive in size and features dancing. Various identities are represented. Kibbutznik “tembel” hats intermingle with Kuffiyahs, headscarves and traditional Yemenite attire. The camera focuses on the diversity, emphasising it. Gradually, the procession gathers into Malchei Yisrael Square (Today: Rabin Square). Here, the narration refers to it openly as a demonstration. A short film produced by the Histadrut Center for Culture and Education.
