An Israeli Film Service short documentary about Prime Minister Levi Eshkol’s visit to Africa.
The first visit of an Israeli Prime Minister to the Black Continent extended over three weeks and included seven countries. Accompanied by his wife Miriam and diplomats, Prime Minister Levi Eshkol visited Senegal, Ivory Coast, Liberia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Madagascar, Uganda, and Kenya. This short film documents the signing of agreements between Eshkol and local leaders, ceremonies held in honor of the guest, gifts he was given (including an elephant’s tusk!), the Israeli delegation going on a Safari in Kenya, and even a dance party with Miriam Eshkol. Apart from the official visit, this film also captures the landscapes, culture, and cities of Africa.
