A promotional film of the Ministry of Agriculture deals with the development of groundnut [peanut] cultivation. The Israel Film Service and the Ministry of Education and Culture produced the film.
Groundnut cultivation became a leading agricultural sector in Israel, with about seventy percent of its production being exported. The sector’s growth was made possible by transitioning from manual collection to collection and sorting using a system of complex agricultural machinery developed in Israel. The black-and-white film is accompanied by dramatic narration and matching music, is sensitively filmed, and focuses on the landscapes, agricultural machinery, and the development of this sector in Israel during the 1960s and 1970s.
