The film clips in the current group were filmed in 1950 in black and white without sound and with a single text slide: “Snow in Our Country Too.” The film includes documentation of the winter of 1950, during which heavy rains fell and snow covered the entire country including the northern Negev. The film clips also include Purim and Lag BaOmer celebrations that year. Gat members invest effort in preparing for holidays and events: they invite many guests, organize comedy sketches, dress up, and set up a European-style fair with carousel games, bowling, climbing, competitions, and shows. The film clips in this group include footage of classrooms at the Gat school during a geography lesson, sports lessons and competitions, as well as family picnics, swimming, and building sand towers on the beach. Some of the film clips convey the spirit of the group, everyday life, holidays, and special events, and the joy of children and adults at these celebrations is breathtaking.
