Trains, interchanges, irrigation systems, cartography, technology – this film documents the innovation and progress in 1980s Israel. Following the signing of the free trade agreement with the United States in 1985, the growing Israeli market responded to the challenge of presenting itself to its new potential investors. One of the speakers at the conference in honor of the agreement explains that the United States has come to the conclusion that the Israeli economy is flexible, stable and predictable enough to be an ally for economic cooperation. Among the main companies presented in this impressive film are the communications giant Motorola, which established the first subsidiary of its kind in Israel, and Elscint – a medical technology company developed in Israel. This video aired about a year after Elscint ran into economic crises, and may have been an advertisement to strengthen its image in the global market. The film is embellished with computerized images of the country in the international context, its position on the globe and the possibility of its communication with the world, all with typical Israeli pride.
