An episode from the series “Dor Ha’aliya” from the creative incubator project for new immigrant filmmakers, produced by the Israeli Film Service.
In the 1950s, the Jewish National Fund decided to drain northern Israel’s Lake Hula and the surrounding marshes to create more land for agriculture.
The documentary explores the impact of this event on the area’s residents and interviews veterans of the nearby settlements to understand the consequences of the draining process. It also raises questions about the well-being of the local wildlife and whether the decision to drain the lake was a mistake.
