This Frenchlanguage documentary, presented by the Jewish National Fund, recounts the story of the drainage operation of the Hula Valley, which included Lake Hula and the swamps immediately to its north A wide array of advantages to this operation are presented to the viewer, such as the addition of extensive farmland to Israels territory, the establishment of new settlements and houses, population growth, higher standards of living in the area, agricultural industrialization made possible by modern machinery, and the subsequent bountiful production In order to add a personal touch, the narrator incorporates the story of one of the locals, a fisherman named Dan, who has become a parttime farmer due to the drainage operation and added farmland Also emphasized is the contribution of the Jewish National Fund and of Keren Hayesod, to the drainage operation itself as well as to conservation efforts namely, the establishment of a natural reserve in the few remaining swamps, for the benefit of the continued existence of plants and water birds indigenous to the area Alongside breathtakingly beautiful footage of the drainage operation, of the surrounding idyllic nature and of fields in bloom, the film presents the Hula Valley as a place cursed by nature and ennobled and sanctified by the labor of men
