A documentary produced by the Israeli Film Service on the 10th anniversary of the Israeli Andalusian Orchestra.
“It was clear that there was an amazing culture here, which had no proper support” – recalls Motti Malka, as he explains what led him to establish the Israeli Andalusian Orchestra. A decade after its establishment, the Andalusian is more than just an orchestra: it is becoming North African Jews’ representative to the Israeli cultural canon. The film unveils the broad extent of activities carried out by Malka’s initiative in Ashdod: Beyond the orchestra and its performances, you can also see the music lessons at the “Center for Piyyut and Singing” and the activities in community centers.
